WELCOME TO JOY FARM

What in the world is a JOY FARM?

A few years ago, it occurred to me that if we can raise cattle or grow vegetables for food, then we can apply the principles of farming to lots of other things!

Initially, I wanted to start an ART FARM where people could gather and nurture one another to yield meaningful art: painting, sculpture, song, and the like.

But after rumination, it occurred to me that what we really need is a place where we can go to intentionally step out of the systems which prevent us from doing all the things that bring us joy. Yes, for me that is art. But for you it might be cooking. Or gardening. Or working out.

That's when I discovered Islesford, ME and this little house.

When you visit JOY FARM, you'll be stepping out of your everyday and into an intentional environment built around mindfulness. You'll notice the slowness of the pace. You'll indulge in silence. And, hopefully, you'll rediscover what it is that brings you joy.

Every day begins with homemade bread and hand-ground coffee. There are art supplies and instruments strewn about. Olive, the JOY FARM cat will likely give you a loving nuzzle, and probably a bite (she's grumpy).

It's my sincere hope that you will find something here that you lost along the way, and that you can carry it back into your daily life.

With love,

Dechen
